September in Mallorca: the best month to ride

September is our favourite month of the year in Cala Ratjada. The summer crowds leave and the best stays: 22-28 °C, warm sea for a post-ride dip and almost-empty roads.

Perfect weather

Averages drop to 26 °C daytime and 18 °C at night. Sunrise 7:30, sunset 20:00. Plenty of room for 5-6 h rides without July's heat.

Fewer tourists, more space

The Ma-12 (Cala Ratjada-Artà road) and the Capdepera climb — chaotic in August — are yours in September. The Tramuntana breathes too: instead of 200 cyclists in Sa Calobra, you find 30.

Landscape at its best

Binissalem and Santa María vineyards start the harvest. Almond trees still have leaves. September light is golden and low, perfect for photography.

Recommended September routes

  • Cala Ratjada → Cala Mesquida → Cala Agulla (25 km): ride + swim at virgin coves.
  • Capdepera loop + lighthouse (30 km): gentle, sea views.
  • Artà → Betlem hermitage (45 km): quiet climb, bay panoramas.
  • Partial Tramuntana (Sóller → Lluc → Pollença, 90 km): mountain lovers without crowds.
  • September cycling events

  • Mallorca Bike Week (mid-month): guided rides and road cycling.
  • Vuelta Cicloturista a Mallorca (late September): 4-stage amateur tour.
  • Book your bike

Same-day availability at Schulz & Junior in September. We recommend the Scott Addict for road or Orbea Onna for mixed/gravel. Bike delivered in Cala Ratjada with your pedals and saddle height.
